Omnipod 5 vs. DASH vs. Original: How to Tell Your Pods Apart
Read the name, check the compatibility, count the pack size.
Omnipod has gone through several generations, and leftover boxes from an older system are common. Because each version is a different listing, it helps to identify them before you call.
1. Read the name on the box
- Omnipod 5 — the name is printed exactly that way. The box also shows which CGM the pods are paired with.
- Omnipod DASH — labeled DASH.
- Original Omnipod (Eros) — older boxes that say neither 5 nor DASH.
Note: an “Omnipod 5” box is not the same as a “5-pack.” Pack size is a count, separate from the system name. Read both.
2. For Omnipod 5, check compatibility
Omnipod 5 boxes indicate the CGM they work with. The directory lists a Dexcom G6/G7-compatible version and a FreeStyle Libre-compatible version. The Libre-compatible version may not be accepted at this time.
3. Count the pack size
DASH and original pods appear in 5-count and 10-count boxes. Loose single pods are reviewed separately.
4. PDMs and controllers
The DASH PDM is a separate device listing and is reviewed case by case.
